SYNCHRO NINE FACTOR - LESS THAN I (SEARAD MIX)

http://www.myspace.com/synchroninefactor

http://www.myspace.com/snfremixes

Since the late ‘90s, Atlanta’s Synchro Nine Factor has been a mechanized force on the local and national scene. Hardcore industrial fans have witnessed the band’s performances with the likes of Chemlab, Sister Machine Gun and Zeromancer while more casual listeners might have heard snippets of songs from the band’s 1999 debut CD Right Wing Conspiracy on MTV’s Making the Video and elsewhere.

After taking a bit of a hiatus over the past few years, Synchro Nine Factor has been busier then ever in recent months. With the departure of longtime bassist and programmer Robby Johnson, the core duo of Nelson and Jamie Hagood decided to regroup by stripping down the darkwave sound they had become known for in favor of a more traditional rock approach.

But before starting this new chapter, the siblings revisited Right Wing Conspiracy and it’s slightly more guitar-oriented follow-up, 2003’s re[deploy], by giving the songs a remix treatment on the appropriately titled re[mix]. Released in late 2007, re[mix] features contributions from the likes of Autovon, PsiVamp, John Omen and Stan Satin.

While re[mix] played up the band’s electronic and industrial past, the more recent release, 20:20, heads in a direction more akin to alternative metal acts like Helmet, Prong and Alice in Chains. While samples and effects haven’t been completely abandoned, songs like “Where Do We Go From Here” and “Skyscraper” seem much more metal oriented in hindsight, thanks in part to the addition of Keith Downs on drums.

Prior to the release of the EP, the band has remained busy with live performances throughout the Southeast. Synchro Nine Factor continues the 20:20 push with a steady stream of live shows to support its release to radio and media outlets. Joining the band onstage is bassist Gary Gilbert, a veteran performer who also adds to the band’s hard rock approach.

With a new lineup, a heavy hitting new release and a reinvigorated musical approach, Synchro Nine Factor is poised to reclaim its dominance on the Atlanta music scene and beyond. And while the sound has changed somewhat, this revamped version of the band is likely to attract fans of the previous albums while also drawing in new listeners looking for a refreshing twist on mainstream metal.

JSD has been involved with electronic music professionally since 1992. His first single, Trip Harder, released under the name Ultraviolet Catastrophe, was an underground hit. It has since been featured on the Chemical Brothers' mix CD Brothers Gonna Work It Out. In 1993, JSD started Bass Kittens to put out his own work. A string of 12" singles followed, along with the full-length CD Sweaty Planet. He has released a full length drum and bass CD entitled Too Stoned To Sneeze Without Regretting It under the artist name Random. Some artists he has worked with/produced/remixed: Hardkiss Brothers, Mark Pistel, Freaky Chakra, Single Cell Orchestra, Volsoc, Planet Eater, Mephisto Odyssey, DHS. In 2000 he started Pretension Records with J Bondy & Justin Maxwell, with the aim of pushing West Coast electro. He has written music for film (Black Eyed Dog), TV (Invader Zim), performed live in front of thousands of pornographers (2001 AVN Awards), and released several CDs of sample material through Sony Media Software. JEAN MONTAG - is a French/Spanish composer and producer based in Valencia. His weaving and rythmic textures of sound and colour work together to create an imaginative and unique whole, showing the expertise of its crafting. All you have to do is close your eyes.
DANIEL LAMBERT - Fine experimental artist from Australia. Man of mystery judging by the still non-existent biography!!
The track 'UMP' is one of 4 (Ump, When You've Got It All, Freat, All In Our Heads) from the collaboration between Jean Montag and Danniel Lambert.

"Lawnchairs Still Everywhere" By Brian Hamlin: Nearly forgotten in the drifting mists of time, the sounds of Our Daughters Wedding have returned to the world and, curiously enough, have nothing to do with anyone's daughter or anybody's wedding. Our Daughters Wedding was a three-member synthesizer rock group that was born in the Bay Area nearly 30 years ago. The trio - Layne Rico, Scott Simon and Keith Silva - had a dream of bringing a new kind of music to the Bay Area and perhaps the world. Their songs included "Lawnchairs" and "Buildings" and "Raincoats & Silverware," among others. "Lawnchairs" is, perhaps, the best remembered.

Lawnchairs, they sang, were everywhere. And who can deny that? Unfortunately, the group was about 10 years ahead of its time and far from the painfully repetitive mainstream rock of the late '70s. People were still blearily focused on the Bee Gees, Pink Floyd and The Knack. One day in 1980, members of Our Daughters Wedding decided to expand their horizons, packed themselves into a boat-like 1968 Chevrolet Caprice and headed east for the New York music scene. From there they took Europe by storm, touring from Germany to Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and England. The group found itself part of a growing new Eurosound and the Bay Area was left wondering what ever happened to those lawnchair guys.
By 1985, the band was no more and all anybody had were memories and a few vinyl singles on the Design Records Label (we love you Lil $), A special 5 song Mini Album and a full length Album on the EMI America Label, a Division of Capitol Records.
Our Daughters Wedding, however, was not to be forgotten and, just a few weeks ago, their never-before-released 22-track CD compilation "Night Life: The Collection" was launched by Almacantar Records and is available at http://www.almacantarrecords.com

This was a breath of fresh air for Our Daughters Wedding aficionados like Alan Novak, a longtime insider with the electronic rock trio. "They were pretty phenomenal then and I think they're still phenomenal now," said Novak, a driving force behind the CD revival. "They were just great musicians." Two of the band members, Layne Rico and Scott Simon, are living in Los Angeles and New Jersey, respectively. Rico is a corporate jet pilot and Simon is raising horses.  Although the pair are no longer the electronic warriors of the 1980s, they're both excited about the compilation CD and are talking about getting together in February to make some new music. After an appeal the band have now made contact with the gov Keith Silva!!

The CD is available now!! - You can buy the fab NIGHTLIFE : "The Collection" from Almacantar Records http://www.almacantarrecords.com

ARTHUR OSKAN - GREENWICH VILLAGE

http://www.myspace.com/decibelpalace

In 2007, Oskan came full-circle with a two-volume retrospective. In collaboration with Decibel Palace, the recordings that launched his career were remastered and compiled into album format for the very first time. Spanning the years 1995-97,The Auracle Sessions Vol. 1 & 2 are a must-have for fans of lush, atmospheric, downtempo techno. Arthur Oskan: 1995-97 | The Auracle Sessions Volumes One + Two. Fans of Warp Records' Artificial Intelligence series (Autechre, Polygon Window, Richard H. Kirk, Kenny Larkin, et al) will definitely  want to check out these rare studio recordings.

THE AURACLE SESSIONS Vol 1 & 2 are available from DECIEL PALACE website -  http://decibelpalace.com/index.html

Toronto Canada’s highly proficient electronic music composer, Arthur Oskan, is known for his powerfully resonating dance floor releases. While much of his music is described as intricate, driving, melodic, and moody, his more minimal stripped down tracks created under his Myers Briggs alias expose a simpler and more elegant side of his musical repertoire. The story of his evolving music and his career as a producer is an interesting one. As a teenager during the late 80’s and early 90’s, Arthur Oskan began immersing himself in a variety of musical styles. During this time he listened to and soaked in information about studio gurus like Georgio Moroder, Vince Clark and Alan Wilder, and industrial bands such as Nitzer Ebb, Cetu Javu, and Front 242. In his quest to quench his appetite for synthetic music he eventually purchased his own EPS Sampler, a TR-606 drum computer, a Roland JX3P and a 4-Track. It was with this first gear that he was able to experiment and make his first electronic music. These early years of training proved invaluable because they provided him with a solid foundation for his budding studio prowess. By the mid-nineties, following a brief period producing for and performing with Toronto industrial and techno acts, he began recording a series of studio sessions under the pseudonym Auracle. Years later, these very same live studio sets were re-distributed and caught the attention and admiration of event promoters. Armed with his growing collection of analog relics and a 24 channel mixing desk, Oskan dropped incredible sets for several underground events during this time. As time went on, he introduced a more percussive edge to his synthesizer lines and drum programming. By the end of the decade, he had found his place among a solid group of Toronto electronic music producers and DJs, and he was performing with both local and international talent alike. During the early 2000’s while Oskan was establishing his career outside of music production as a graphic designer, he spent some time in his studio away from gigging. In 2002 he re-emerged and resumed performing live sets at various high-profile club events in Toronto. Since then, he has been producing and recording his innovative breed of techno music almost non-stop. After years of orienting his music releases around harder dance floor techno labels, Oskan decided to expose more of his music by adding productions to his catalogue that were simpler and more delicate. Coincidentally, minimal music was on the rise to its pinnacle of popularity and, as a result, Oskan’s newer productions have been frequently noticed by international labels and artists. In 2006, under his newer nom de plume, Myers Briggs, Oskan’s memorable live set which he performed at MUTEK's Le Placard showcase made a lasting impression. This exposure connected him to more record labels – Beretta Grey, Thoughtless Music, and Noah Pred’s Sentient Sound – which subsequently released several of his singles and one of his widely celebrated EPs. Today, Oskan’s previous and current productions appear on a variety of labels representing a comprehensive spectrum of proper techno. His releases reside on labels including Beretta Music, Restructured, Secret Weapon, Cratesavers, and Matrix Records. Also exciting has been the acclaim given to his recent work by several of the world's top dj's and producers – Funk D'Void, Los Hermanos, Chymera, and Fabric Lig. In fact, his “Resolutions” EP topped Alan Oldham's chart for Tresor (Berlin), and his nine-minute long “Forever” will appear on John Digweed's "Transmission Vol. 4" compilation in the spring of 2008. “Forever” has also been celebrated by James Holden, Nic Fanciulli, and Hernan Cattaneo. Currently, as one of Toronto’s leading live acts, Oskan has been performing alongside a slew of international artists such as Aril Brikha, Alex Under and Samuel L. Sessions. He is continuing to work on new music with labels such as Ovum, Beretta Music and its sub labels, Beretta Red and Beretta Grey. 2008 will be a busy year for Arthur Oskan, as he plans to produce remixes and perform live through every season

TRANSFORMANTRA - NUGGET MATIC
http://www.myspace.com/transformantra
http://decibelpalace.com
http://www.myspace.com/decibelpalace

In the densely populated electronic scene — greatly comprised of solo artists and duos — the sight of a four-piece band is a rare surprise. Even harder to find are groups that truly defy the trappings of operating within a defined genre.

Enter Transformantra, and their body of work from 1995-1999. Perhaps it was the interplay of Transformantra’s four members that allowed them to flourish outside a “style of the month”. Each member seemed to give the music his/her own funked up vision of how the universe should sound. Weeding out predictability was an easy task with the headstrong soundsmiths of Transformantra on hand.

The group's story began in the summer of 1995 in Toronto, when four noisy friends — Mike Gibbs, Will Mokrynski, Nancy Nieuweboer and Will Skol — began an ongoing series of jam sessions. Their interest in the harder sides of techno, drum and bass, dub, hip hop, and electro inspired them to concoct their own beat-driven sound. Over the following two years they cooked up their debut 12-inch Liquor Mart (1997), and the Transformantra CD (1998). The disc was met with critical acclaim.

STELLA REVIEWS FOR TRANSFORMANTRA IN 1998

TRANSFORMANTRA 1 and 2 is available from DECIEL PALACE website -  http://decibelpalace.com/index.html

“...a top-ranking set of steady, powerful digital beat explorations... Transformantra spin original accents onto the techno form, expanding the genre while keeping techno’s original searching spirit in mind... Impressive stuff.”

— Urb

“This Toronto quartet purvey a refreshing brand of funky electronica that’s at once rhythmically elastic and texturally warped. Avoiding sonic clichés and categorization ain’t easy in 1998, but Transformantra manage to produce challenging music that bursts free of the demands of both clubs and the home-listening experience.”

— Alternative Press

“An album that took me by surprise... Transformantra manage to develop their own 66 minutes of sound which covers all the bases analog and digital. “Satan’s Address” is a mid-tempo track with flanged moog-style bass keyboards and a dense beat. The album evolves and expands on the darker, slower “Glaci-ied” that begins with spacey ambience a la Orb before releasing a chopped break. Nice.”

— XLR8R

“...this crew keeps it on the good foot, albeit twisted, mangled funk, throwing in liberal doses of dub on “Satan’s Address” and “Nugget Matic.” “Glaci-ied” is a chilly enclave of pointillist pulses and icy synth washes. “Fragments Of Illumination” is ‘80s electro with its fierce static rhythms and its propulsive grooves... Transformantra has made the transition into being one of the most exciting techno acts around, and this debut shouts out loud and clear that they can match anybody, anywhere.”

— Exclaim!

Unfortunately, despite all of the great reviews, and the immediate sell-out of the CD's initial pressing, the young record label that issued the releases (Silver USA) went belly-up. Undeterred, Transformantra set about recording a follow-up album. Transformantra 2 caught the ear of Dave Allen (Gang Of Four, Shriekback) and his World Domination Recordings label (whose roster included Loop Guru, 60 Channels and Perfume Tree, amongst other notables). But just as this new record deal was being finalized in 1999, and World Domination's email newsletters were announcing Transformantra's forthcoming second release, THAT label closed up shop as well. Unfortunately, the band decided to follow suit, with its members pursuing various other musical and non-musical endevours.

 THE DECIBEL PALACE REMASTERS

Cut to 2006 and the remastering of Transformantra's debut CD and 12" as a combined online-only release. This new expanded version of the album includes the previously-unreleased "Reelization" — an explosive industrial dub improv recorded live during the group's 1998 Canadian Music Week set in Toronto (which also saw the appearance of Solvent on the same bill).

Also released in late 2006 was the long-awaited unveiling of Transformantra 2. Although the album was originally recorded in 1998-99, its nine tracks have aged remarkably well. With the exception of "Lover" (the only previously-released track of the set, and the group's sole exploration of a distinct genre — i.e. drum and bass), the album is a bold continuation of the dub-informed pan-genre sound that Transformantra was becoming known for.

TRANSFORMANTRA LIVE

In performance, Transformantra was a hybrid of live instrumentation and on-the-fly remixing. Heightening the show was dancer King Svenie, a veteran of the Toronto rave scene and a truly crazed illustrator. Costuming himself head-to-toe — with the unmistakable purpose of attempting to make contact with the outer regions of the cosmos — King Svenie brought a bizarre theatrical element to the music. And the band’s gigs drew praise from respected sources. After Transformantra’s appearance at a party entitled the Black Lodge, Ken Downie of The Black Dog (Warp Records) wrote a glowing review of the group on his official website, saying “...The real stars of the evening were the local talent. An awesome technofoursome-inthemouldofkraftwerk totally blew the minds of everyone...”

Besides the Black Dog, Transformantra shared the stage with other luminaries such as Alex Paterson (The Orb), Stacey Pullen and Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia.

DEVIANT UK - BAD INFLUENCE

Check out the DEVIANT UK MySpace pages for news on all the live dates.

SEX, DRUGS & SYNTHERSISERS

Deviant UK has established itself as a star of the European Dark Alternative scene, spearheading the newly resurgent British scene. The band unleashed debut album 'Barbed Wire Star' in September 2006, spawning the anthemic club hits 'Raptured Saints' and 'Access Denied!'. Their unique sound is powerful, distinctive & instantly accessible.

This band is defined onstage, consolidating an ever-growing fanbase with intensive live dates including Wave Gotik Treffen, Infest, Nocturnal Culture Night, DarkCity festivals among others. The band have enjoyed many memorable shows with VNV Nation, The Cruxshadows, Diary of Dreams, Rotersand & Seabound among others.

Quintessentially English & proud of it, Deviant UK is masterminded by devilish singer, songwriter & frontman Jay Smith ("a true showman with an ego the size of a planet" - Rocksound Magazine). This is dark synthetic pop with a black heart, Smith's frozen, angst-ridden vocals coating every song in ice. Memorable hooks & fist-in-the-air choruses demonstrate a pop science that stands Deviant UK head & shoulders above their peers.

Skillfully avoiding many of the cliches associated with the scene, a strong image and stage presence works hand-in-hand with the music to deliver a package that ticks all the boxes. Smith engages audiences head-on with an overwhelming confidence that is equal parts arrogance, charisma & psychosis.

His lyrical stance is suitably dark; everyone has a secret to hide, friends will always let you down & love inevitably ends badly. Forget vague symbolism, B-Movie futurism or tired political posturing: Smith opts for a truly personal, first-person view into a bacchanalian world of sin, excess & insecurity, framed by humour so black that it can only come from having been there, seen it & done it.

With 'Barbed Wire Star' hailed as a classic debut, further European and US tour dates lie ahead following triumphant performances at Wave Gotik Treffen & Infest - invited to play for a second time as 'easily the most requested UK act in the history of the festival'. The recent collaborations with Imatem [Project Pitchfork] & Rotersand are topping alternative charts across Europe & the second Deviant UK album 'Very Bad Things' is scheduled for release in Spring 2009: bigger, harder and better. New anthems like 'My Black Heart', 'You Will Burn' & 'Bad Influence' are already highlights of the live set - Jay Smith raising the stakes once again. Who would bet against him now? Not you.

synthIT - VOLTAGE CREATURES
http://www.myspace.com/synthit

Hello & thank you for enjoying the synthIT sound. synthIT is a modern day modular synthesizer & computer construction by musician Mike Kelley, aka KickRaTT. The body of the sound, is created using a P22 modular synthesizer, designed & built by synthesizers.com. Right now synthIT is just getting off the ground, getting familiar with the P22, it's modules and the sound creation process. But from analog moment to electronic instant, a sound creation forms into a structured work that is worth presenting. Thanks to ROBOCAST Radio you can enjoy one of my very first creations with this analog modular synth - "voltage creatures". Please check out my synthIT MySpace page to hear more of the sounds and electronica creations I have been creating with this modular system. I will continue to use my synthIT myspace page as a posting for my work, patches and additions to the overall sound. Stay tuned in...more to come. Thanks for the listen - Mike Kelley

GARY HUNTER - I ONCE WAS A MACHINE
http://www.myspace.com/garyhuntermusic
After over 12 months of concentrating on cover versions Gary has now returned to working on his own album "Systematic" which has a strong John Foxx/Gary Numan influence. Several songs have been recorded including brand new recordings of the well received "I Once Was A Machine" and "I Remember You". The album will also include "Stranger In A Room" which appeared on the limited edition Toffeetones compilation CD "Here We Go - The Other Side Of Metal Beat". Other tracks recorded so far are "A Million Stars", "A Face I Knew", "The Glimmer Man" and "Car Crash Flashback". A couple of tracks are in the planning stage to which are called "Smoke Screen" and "Years Ago". The album is very much built around the classic drum machine the Roland CR78 and analogue synths like Native Instruments Pro53, Vanguard Synth, Rob Papen Predator synth & Superwave synth collection.

Gary will also be lookning to releasing some of his trance/dance material this year as well with around 14 songs recorded so that is something to look forward to. He has also set up a new myspace page for his dance/trance music: http://www.myspace.com/definitionofsounduk

FINE TIME - NIGHT TRAIN

Visit our homepage

"Fine Time consists of the two chameleonic musicians Tom Time (Drums, Percussions, Synths, Sequencing a.o.) and Phil Fine (Guitar, Bass, Samplez, Synths and Vocs). From time to time some guest-musicians like the gifted young songstress Charlène and "Mister Bubbleizer" TooFaze from the band Last Equinox joining the band. To pigeonhole this band is an almost impossible mission. Their repertoire stretches across New Wave/Age, Electronic-Body-Music, Ambient Sounds to the point of Reggae-rhythms. A sound that has not been heard since the 80's. They mix modern sequencer-sounds with samples and conventional instruments like drums/percussions, guitar or bass-guitar. The musical results of this fusion are absolutly unique. The whole thing is rounded out by ambitious, political and sociocritical lyrics, which seemed to be extinct since the 70's. An innovative project, which clarifies the change of the music-biz."

LOUIS GUIDONE on FACEBOOK
Louis Guidone started experimenting with music at 17 back in 1990 on an eclectic assortment of samplers, tape decks, effects, synths, drum machines, and so on. He now makes music on his computer. Although music was an on again off again thing for a while, things got very serious in 2006 when remixing went on the back burner (despite increasing requests for his skills) and creation of original compositions dominated the bulk of his time.

His first album “I Go On With My Life” was launched on Snocap 8/02/08 and is also available on CD-R through his website.

He had so much fun covering some of his favorite Depeche Mode songs for the Modeified project (he contributed Photographic, Fools, and Ice Machine to Modeified 7) that he decided to make more and release his own Depeche Mode and Recoil tribute entitled “Destruction Time Again” on September 1st, 2008.

He has remixed many artists, but most noticeable are his remixes of Information Society which appears on their website, Slayer which has been played at Contempt NYC, PTYL which included him on the download version of LOKI:God Of Change:The Remix Album, Diverje who will put his work on an upcoming remix cd, Leather Strip who he has been a fan of from day one, and many more.

About Hensel 3000

My name is Frank Hensel. I grew up and still live in Gelsenkirchen, Germany (the so-called 'town of 1000 fires' then) in a typical Ruhrgebiet working class background. Coal-mines, coking plants, steel mills and chemical industry darkened the sky and the mind and thus I started to read science fiction extensively and listen to music intensively. Right from the start I fell utterly in love with space and time and travelling through it, and it still has a huge impact on my work. At the beginning of the 90's I found musicians good and patient enough for a big serious project: the trio called The Enemy Within. For the next two years we played all over Germany and were local heros in the Ruhrgebiet. We recorded a self produced album in 1993 called Pulp but due to famous 'musically differences' dissolved in 1994. I found the time to write two science fiction musicals: the rock musical The Libuda Conspiracy and Space Patrol (based on the German TV series from the 60's 'Raumpatrouille' - see my top friends). 'Too far out stories for the usual friend of musicals' and 'too expensive to produce' was the experts' opinion. Both never made it to the stage to day. Apart from some sound installations for museums and music for short films I composed and produced the music for the highly acclaimed CD-Rom 'Industrial Heritage Trail'. Under the name of hensel3000 I have thrown out 9 CDs of electronic music since then.

My new love is the MyOuterSpace project . For MyOuterSpace Vol. 1 I had the honour and privilege to record the track 'berliner schule' with one of my musical heroes, Harald Grosskopf, the legendary German drummer who played (among hundreds of others) on the Klaus Schulze 'Moondawn' album. You can download 'berliner schule' in much better sound quality than on this site on the MyOuterSpace website for free. http://www.myspace.com/myouterspace3000 or http://www.myouterspace.net

For MyOuterSpace Vol. 2 I had the honour and privilege to record the track 'Confetti check A ok' (based on the UFO episode of the same name) with Alan Davey on bass (Ex-Hawkwind, now with Gunslinger) and with the outstandingly gifted German female singer Gabi Bott on vocals. Be sure to hear more from her in the future here. Here you find the short version of 'Confetti check'. You can download the long version in much better sound quality on the MyOuterSpace website for free. http://www.myspace.com/myouterspace3000 or http://www.myouterspace.net
