tenek - WHERE'S THE TIME? (TELEMATIC HOLIDAY 80 EDIT)

http://www.myspace.com/tenekuk

'tenek' is the latest project from Geoff Pinckney (The Nine/Mesh) and Pete Steer. The sound features shades of classic electronica fused with a contemporary twist. tenek released their eponymous debut ep cd in September 2007 which has received excellent feedback and reviews. They are now applying the finishing touches to their forthcoming album 'Stateless' which will be released through the new, friendly Toffeetones label in the very near future. The first single from the album is called 'Where's The Time?' and was released on Monday 20th October 2008. Live shows are planned for 2009 and new dates are always being added so keep checking in. We also like the name to be spelt with a small 't' too. It's important to us!  The latest "tenek" single 'Where's The Time?' is available from the Toffeetones records store http://www.toffeetronic.co.uk/tt_shop.html

ANDREA MILANA - HARMONIC MOTION

http://www.andreamilana.com
http://www.myspace.com/andreamilana

Andrea Milana, born in Gela (Italy) in 1978, is signed at S.I.A.E. (the Italian Society for Authors and Editors) since 1998 as author and composer. Music and computer science are his experimentation field. He studied pianoforte and classic guitar, but also programming languages and electronic music, passing through every possible contamination between them. For two years, the territory of these experimentations has been his own recording studio, Percezioni Digitali, opened in Gela in 2001. Afterwards he has worked for Edirol Direct Italia, a Roland's group society, in Milan (2004-2007). This job brought him a deeper knowledge of electronic music and computer science both, as website developer. He recently moved to Malta, where he's finishing the new mix of Polymateric, his latest album.

All different materials through the creation of a unique artistic expression. A mix of elements from the past, vintage sonorities, warm sounds, electronic arpeggio geometries; the synthesizer is the first actor and the scenography at the same time.

Album available at:CDBaby ; iTunes ; PayPlay ; Amazon

His work leads the path from electronic sonorities to vintage ones, with some fusion influences. Main influences for him are: Jean Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, Pink Floyd, Jeff Lorber, Pat Metheny, Weather Reports, and the vintage sound of the '70s and '80s.

JAKE NIEMI - ACCESS DENIED
http://www.jakeniemi.com
http://www.myspace.com/niemimusic
As an indie artist on the rise, Jake’s music has received international FM radio airplay (ABC Radio Networks), internet radio airplay, iTunes podcast airplay, has won international contests (such as being featured as Next Big Hit’s Best of 2006), received 1 rankings on music websites (such as SectionZ.com), was featured in a video game and has been heard around the world in both live venues and on literally THOUSANDS of major websites (myspace, CNET, Download.com). Just try googling “Jake Niemi” and see for yourself!

His tracks are currently gaining serious attention by major labels such as Epic, J Records, Universal, Columbia Records, and Dreamworks, in addition to attention by talent scouts, artist management firms, film/tv music publishing companies, and more.

Since age 8, he has written songs, while singing, playing his own instruments (both live acoustic and digital), and producing his own music, in addition to producing over 25 other artists and bands. Jake also remixed tracks for a Virgin/Atlantic recording artist, distributed internationally through MMD music and Detroit Authentic Records. Jake Niemi’s inclination towards both melodic song form and cutting-edge music technology has shaped his unique style. Without exception you’ll find him pouring his heart and energy into every note, every word, every beat. Over a decade of previous radio broadcasting experience yielded a solid understanding of music that works in the mainstream, leading Jake to inject a "commercial" quality and feel into his music production and songwriting.

It doesn’t end there. To make the circle complete, more than anything Jake’s trademark is to make a connection to God and human beings—and to make a difference… with a primary focus on such things (as opposed to money, fame, or success which he considers to be secondary).
The Jake Niemi buzz is all at once a rock star vibe and a feeling of home. You are sure to feel something, and will certainly not walk away unchanged.

CULT WITH NO NAME - SOFT SKILLS

http://www.myspace.com/cwnn
http://www.sonicbids.com/CultWithNoName

Hailing from the UK comes Trakwerx’ first international signing, Cult With No Name. Self-professed “post-punk electronic balladeers” the London duo of Erik Stein (lead vocals/rhythm piano) and Jon Boux (lead piano/rhythm vocals) have created a unique piano/synth sound that uncannily captures both the subtlety and sophistication of Erik Stein’s personal lyrical stylings.

Judging from the understated sophistication of their first album 'Paper Wraps Rock', it is hard to imagine that neither the classically trained Boux nor the human encyclopedia of underground pop music Stein have been in any other band prior to Cult With No Name. Accordingly the obligatory mentioning of past bands which in most instances includes mostly bands nobody knows anyway will be dispensed with. Seriously though, 'Paper Wraps Rock' would be impossible to categorize without references to such important artists ranging in time (and style) as Erik Satie, George Gershwin, Keith Jarrett, Court and Spark era Joni Mitchell and Honky Chateau era Elton John. “80s” references would have to include Wire, Shriekback, Roxy Music, Tuxedomoon and The Associates. It stands to reason that leading British music journalist Mick Mercer selected 'Paper Wraps Rock' as one of his albums of the year and the band as his discovery of 2007.

Hot on the heels of their debut, Trakwerx is proud to give you Cult With No Name's second helping in 'Careful What You Wish For'. On 'Paper Wraps Rock', the London duo of Erik Stein and Jon Boux sang of 'More of the Same', but 'Careful What You Wish For' is anything but. Sure, the haunting, melodic piano balladry is still in evidence on opener 'Flying Ant Day' (albeit in the guise of a something that sounds like a drinking song), and 'Hands, Two, Touch' (CWNN's very own 'Life on Mars'), but the majority of the album prods your ears with a variety of other influences. 'Context is Everything' hints at Scritti Politti, 'Down the Line' could be Stan Ridgway, whilst 'You and Who's Army' somehow matches the mournful croon of Tony Bennett to the minimalist funk of Shriekback or ESG. And if faux-discaux is your thing, then 'Hurting the ones you love the most' is bound to get your ears a dancin'.

On 'Careful What You Wish For', Cult With No Name takes positive delight in exploiting their influences, complete with a stunning version of The Stranglers' 'Golden Brown' and some quite remarkable violin from Tuxedomoon legend Blaine L. Reininger. And as if one violin wasn't enough, 'She B.C.' gives you seven guitars...all at the same time, playing unison. Now who wouldn't wish for that.
Cover for the album 'Careful What You Wish For'
Given that misery loves company, it follows logic that 'Careful What You Wish For' will sell in droves. You, however, may find it for sale in good record stores.

Erik Stein: lead vocals, rhythm piano
Jon Boux: lead piano, rhythm vocals

ABOUT - THE LIGHT DREAMS

The Light Dreams is the name of an ongoing musical project, by artist/designer Alex Storer. Inspired by a lifelong fascination with dreams and science-fiction, the music of The Light Dreams is perhaps best described as “instrumental soundscapes”, music that forms shapes and colours, providing a portal for escape. The Light Dreams brings together  a wealth of influence from artists such as Jean Michel Jarre, John Foxx, Gary Numan and Mike Oldfield to name but a few, and combines that influence with a contemporary electronic style.

MACH FOX - LIKE CLOVER (5 LEAF CLOVER MIX)

http://www.machfox.com/

http://www.myspace.com/machfox

Among the lifetime residents of Abyssville are those rock and rollers whose faith in the liberating rebellion of Electropunk music gets crossed up into a personal need to defy convention and authority - all authority. Clinging to icons whose cools convey a fearless sense of adventure, they are buffeted by the rigors of a lifestyle that would embalm a vampire and propelled by audience expectations of superhuman hedonism and indulgence.

Mach FoX is the quintessential Electro-Rocker, a glam punk who digs the roots, a true believer in the machine backbeat. A man who lives the music as if it means something, and gives himself over to it in a near fatal rock ritual. An Electropunk who dresses in his habit defiantly, disgustedly- like a close-fitting tattered mesh shirt, Mach and machines have become as inseperable as Mach and his old hat and goggles. Time and again, he hauls himself through the fire to prove that he is no myth- but a keeper of the flame. If Marc Bolan was the godfather of glam then Mach FoX will most certainly sire the child of Mpls. Electropunk.

SYNCHRO NINE FACTOR - MORE THAN MACHINES (AUTOVON MIX)

http://www.myspace.com/synchroninefactor

http://www.myspace.com/snfremixes

Since the late ‘90s, Atlanta’s Synchro Nine Factor has been a mechanized force on the local and national scene. Hardcore industrial fans have witnessed the band’s performances with the likes of Chemlab, Sister Machine Gun and Zeromancer while more casual listeners might have heard snippets of songs from the band’s 1999 debut CD Right Wing Conspiracy on MTV’s Making the Video and elsewhere.

After taking a bit of a hiatus over the past few years, Synchro Nine Factor has been busier then ever in recent months. With the departure of longtime bassist and programmer Robby Johnson, the core duo of Nelson and Jamie Hagood decided to regroup by stripping down the darkwave sound they had become known for in favor of a more traditional rock approach.

But before starting this new chapter, the siblings revisited Right Wing Conspiracy and it’s slightly more guitar-oriented follow-up, 2003’s re[deploy], by giving the songs a remix treatment on the appropriately titled re[mix]. Released in late 2007, re[mix] features contributions from the likes of Autovon, PsiVamp, John Omen and Stan Satin.

While re[mix] played up the band’s electronic and industrial past, the more recent release, 20:20, heads in a direction more akin to alternative metal acts like Helmet, Prong and Alice in Chains. While samples and effects haven’t been completely abandoned, songs like “Where Do We Go From Here” and “Skyscraper” seem much more metal oriented in hindsight, thanks in part to the addition of Keith Downs on drums.

Prior to the release of the EP, the band has remained busy with live performances throughout the Southeast. Synchro Nine Factor continues the 20:20 push with a steady stream of live shows to support its release to radio and media outlets. Joining the band onstage is bassist Gary Gilbert, a veteran performer who also adds to the band’s hard rock approach.

With a new lineup, a heavy hitting new release and a reinvigorated musical approach, Synchro Nine Factor is poised to reclaim its dominance on the Atlanta music scene and beyond. And while the sound has changed somewhat, this revamped version of the band is likely to attract fans of the previous albums while also drawing in new listeners looking for a refreshing twist on mainstream metal.

THE GLIMMER ROOM - HOME WITHOUT THE JOURNEY (part 4)

http://www.theglimmerroom.co.uk

http://www.myspace.com/theglimmerroom

http://www.a-framemedia.co.uk

The new Glimmer Room album Home Without The Journey is now available from the A-Frame catalogue. After a two and a half year slog the new album is finally ready! Home Without The Journey is without a doubt Andy Condon's finest moment to date. Andy has managed to craft an album that is a melodic as it is melancholic, with pieces that have a fluid and tidal feel to them. Well after all this time and false starts the new album is out and available.

From the PRESS PACK - I know everyone always say's this but I truly think this is the best work I have ever done, you just cant believe how proud of this album I am

Home Without The Journey is the third studio album from The Glimmer Room. Two and a half years in the making, this is the most complex and intricate album Andy Condon has recorded to date. The title track moves through many delicate movements in the twenty-eight minuets of the track, from the full and dense moments we move  into a tidal ambient landscapes and back again. It all ends up as a subtle sonic monument to all  the lessons learned working on the first two The Glimmer Room albums. Carbon Statues the second track was recorded in a sleepless weekend after being left  home alone. Again Andy follows the wish to explore the more fluid style of music introduced in Home Without The Journey. The result is a very introspective and delicate melodic piece wrapped up in almost tidal washes of processed sounds. The track features the voice of the late Robert Oppenheimer. The third track Cool Blue And The Plough is a track of two halves; the first slowly introduces a long and evolving cyclic sequential theme punctuated with bursts of melody. This acts as the perfect introduction to the last half and the climax of the album. This last part brings with it the feeling of the sun breaking through the clouds with a melancholy melody and a choral pad that was recorded to sound like a sonic double helix running through the track. Cool Blue And The Plough features The Jupiter 8’s OJ on fretless bass guitar. Making a break away from the modern trend to make CD’s sound as load as possible but at the cost of a loss in dynamics. Home Without The journey has purposely been mastered in a way that holds back on shear volume to make way for an album that follows the highs and lows in a much more intimate and emotional way.

"Lawnchairs Still Everywhere" By Brian Hamlin:

Nearly forgotten in the drifting mists of time, the sounds of Our Daughters Wedding have returned to the world and, curiously enough, have nothing to do with anyone's daughter or anybody's wedding. Our Daughters Wedding was a three-member synthesizer rock group that was born in the Bay Area nearly 30 years ago. The trio - Layne Rico, Scott Simon and Keith Silva - had a dream of bringing a new kind of music to the Bay Area and perhaps the world. Their songs included "Lawnchairs" and "Buildings" and "Raincoats & Silverware," among others. "Lawnchairs" is, perhaps, the best remembered.

The UK picture cover of The Digital Cowboy Record EP

Lawnchairs, they sang, were everywhere. And who can deny that? Unfortunately, the group was about 10 years ahead of its time and far from the painfully repetitive mainstream rock of the late '70s. People were still blearily focused on the Bee Gees, Pink Floyd and The Knack. One day in 1980, members of Our Daughters Wedding decided to expand their horizons, packed themselves into a boat-like 1968 Chevrolet Caprice and headed east for the New York music scene. From there they took Europe by storm, touring from Germany to Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and England. The group found itself part of a growing new Eurosound and the Bay Area was left wondering what ever happened to those lawnchair guys.
By 1985, the band was no more and all anybody had were memories and a few vinyl singles on the Design Records Label (we love you Lil $), A special 5 song Mini Album and a full length Album on the EMI America Label, a Division of Capitol Records.
Our Daughters Wedding, however, was not to be forgotten and, just a few weeks ago, their never-before-released 22-track CD compilation "Night Life: The Collection" was launched by Almacantar Records and is available at http://www.almacantarrecords.com

This was a breath of fresh air for Our Daughters Wedding aficionados like Alan Novak, a longtime insider with the electronic rock trio. "They were pretty phenomenal then and I think they're still phenomenal now," said Novak, a driving force behind the CD revival. "They were just great musicians." Two of the band members, Layne Rico and Scott Simon, are living in Los Angeles and New Jersey, respectively. Rico is a corporate jet pilot and Simon is raising horses.  Although the pair are no longer the electronic warriors of the 1980s, they're both excited about the compilation CD and are talking about getting together in February to make some new music. After an appeal the band have now made contact with the gov Keith Silva!!

The CD is available now!! - You can buy the fab NIGHTLIFE : "The Collection" from Almacantar Records http://www.almacantarrecords.com
