SHOCK DVD/CD                 TIK & TOK - DREAM ORPHANS
SHOCK were a phenomenon when they burst onto the London club scene in 1980. This was a band with no instruments, who combined mime, dance, burlesque, music and theatre in a way that had never been seen before. Shamelessly stealing from anyone that they'd ever liked, Shock's live performances captivated audiences all over the UK, New York, Europe and the Far East. They released 2 dancefloor hits on RCA, "Angel Face" in 1980 - (produced by Rusty Egan (Visage) and Richard Burgess (Landscape) and "Dynamo Beat" (written by Tim Dry and Richard Burgeess) in 1981. Shock were at the epicentre of the whole New Romantic/ Blitz Kids scene in England and worked with Ultravox, Numan, Depeche Mode and many others. Shock gave birth to TIK & TOK (robotic mime and music legends), Barbie Wilde (author, actress, presenter and 'Female Cenobyte' from "Hellraiser II"), Robert Pereno (clubland legend) and L.A.Richards as Pleasure and The Beast and Carole Caplin. AND NOW, AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, IS AN EXCLUSIVE SHOCK DVD.Which contains the 7" and 12" mixes of the A&B sides of their 2 singles, the whole live set performed by Shock when they supported Gary Numan at Wembley Arena in 1981, the video promos for the two RCA singles, a short live set filmed at the Venue in London in 1980 (featuring 'Plastic Joe' and Carole Caplin in a legendary performance of "Ricky's Hand"), and some rare footage from TV shows. You need this DVD in your life? Of course you do! Rush now to HTTP://WWW.TIMDRY.CO.UK/SHOCK.HTM and you'll discover how to make this rare artifact your very own. Enjoy!
Also recommended - TIK & TOK - DREAM ORPHANS - After a 22 year lunchbreak Tik & Tok returned with a brand new eclectic album that ranges from lo - fi ambient to full - on electronica. Enjoy! "Well done boys, the album has an edge, a uneasy undertone that makes you feel uncertain, unsure of what's coming next. I don't know why but I feel slightly dirty after playing it, probably the sweaty bits in the middle! This is how I would describe the album: Kraftwerk meets Vangelis, fondles Numan and gets a good kicking from the Prodigy, all with a modern dance style and plenty of the TnT tartiness we all love." TESTUBE - LOST AND FOUND
http://testube.com/
http://www.myspace.com/testube
http://glimrecords.com
Introduced in 1994 as one of several experimental audio projects of Jeff Danos, TESTUBE wasted no time in developing a reputation as one of those rare electronic acts with a surplus of unpredictable and innovative ideas, and a knack for stylistic reinvention. After several self-released cassette/CDR releases on his own United Endangered Front record label from 1995 to 1998, TESTUBE followed in 1999 with his first widely distributed and highly successful Bioplaza concept disc. Quickly capturing the attention of deejays, the music media, and discerning listeners across the globe, TESTUBE was signed to DSBP RECORDS in late 1999 to release the full length remix disc Reconstructive Surgery in 2000. Featuring diverse remixes by PAIN STATION, BIOPSY, TRYLOK, B!MACHINE, THINE EYES, ONEIROID PSYCHOSIS and other innovative electronic artists, Reconstructive Surgery quickly infected clubs and radio stations across the globe. Reconstructive Surgery remained in the CMJ national RPM top-20 charts for six weeks, peaking at the number 4 chart position in September 2000, alongside electronic contemporaries THIEVERY CORPORATION, JUNO REACTOR, and A GUY CALLED GERALD. Responding to requests from die-hard Testube fans for more music, TESTUBE and DSBP RECORDS also released the limited edition Bioplaza Revisited disc in late 2000, featuring additional remixes and previously unreleased tracks. Jeff then returned to the spotlight by applying the TESTUBE remix treatment to songs by BIOPSY, NOXIOUS EMOTION, THINE EYES, PAIN STATION, DIVERJE, B!MACHINE, and the highly anticipated LEAETHERSTRIP single titled Carry Me. After three years of obsessive studio immersion, intense sound manipulation, and frustration with the direction of modern music, TESTUBE then presented the highly controversial CD titled Corporation. Offering an inside look at the dysfunctional clockwork of the "American Dream" and its dependence on corporate anti-justice, TESTUBE's sound crept even further into a gray area that knows few stylistic boundaries or limitations. After several relocations, some soundtrack work, a handful of remixes and a bit of soul searching, TESTUBE withdrew from DSBP Records in 2007 to pursue new channels of exposure and a fresh perspective. Shortly thereafter, Jeff Danos joined forces with longtime friend Jonathan Chalker (from the dark electro-pop acts MINDPEG, PENETRATOR, and LOWHERO.DLL) to form GLIM RECORDS. In 2008, TESTUBE released the free Covert EP, meshing Jeff's signature chaotic-yet-uncompromising style with classic post-punk, wave and 4AD dream pop flavors. An extended 10-track version of the EP included remixes from PTYL, DIGITAL DIRT HEADS, R010R, LOWHERO.DLL, and TYPE001.

The current incarnation of TESTUBE mixes glitch-laden precision edits, experimental rhythms, disfigured melodies, and multi-layered electronic textures to render a unique sound experience with few comparisons. Armed with a plethora of tech-bending ideas and a hunger to re-instill the values of individuality and improvisation in an often languid music scene, TESTUBE is focused on presenting both a captured and live experience like no other.

Glim Records is pleased to announce the return of Testube in 2010. With an anticipated release date of May 17th, Jeff Danos presents 'Off Purpose' - his first full length release since 'Corporation' in 2003. Continuing where the 2008 "Covert" EP left off, this new release further explores the eclectic fringes of electronic genre mutation that Testube is known for. By fusing glitchy chaotic percussion, dramatic textural displays, anti-pop melody and the occasional old school groove, 'Off Purpose' promises to deliver a little bit of something for everyone, and a lot for the discerning few. Jonathan Chalker, of the dark electro-pop act LowHero.DLL, also contributes vocals and lyrics for the track "Lost and Found". 'Off Purpose' will first be sold as a limited boutique CDr with special hand-printed arigato jacket and trigger ejector case. Downloads are alsoavailable from popular online retailers such as Amazon and iTunes, aswell as the official Testube page at Bandcamp.

CAPS - EYE ON YOU
http://www.myspace.com/musiccaps
http://www.elementaryrecordings.co.uk/artists/caps/
ABOUT CAPS - Caps started writing songs in about 1990, but never had the equipment or know-how to record them.  Then, a couple of years back he started playing  bass with 'The Sleuths'.  They played the Barfly supporting Simple Kid and Quasi, also played at The Cavern.  After the band called it a day in 2007 Caps got himself some software and started to record his own stuff.  From sketchy beginnings his sound has slowly grown into something to be shared. Influenced hugely by The Beta Band, Radiohead, N.E.R.D, TV on the Radio, Queens of the Stone Age and De La Soul:  bands that do something different, bands that don't stick to type... mixing it up keeps people interested, Caps included. Caps has wanted to write songs all his adult life, which stems from a love of music from as early as he can remember..... earlier influences like The Commodores, ABBA, ELO, early Jackson, The Captain and Tenille, helped to shape and mould the Caps sound. Now armed with fx pedals, drum machine, electric guitar, microphone, and pen, he is ready to take on the world. His two mini-albums "Radiator" and "Kerplunk" are available on iTunes.  Caps has also recently completed his debut album entitled "The Avenger", which includes a collaboration with the legend Ray Davies of The Kinks. He is already making waves on national radio, having been hand picked by Tom Robinson himself to appear on the BBC Radio 6 show 'Introducing..' in May 2009.  Surely a sign of better and bigger things to come.

DEZEPTION - THE BEGINNING
http://www.dezeption.com/
http://www.myspace.com/deZeption
deZeption was formed in May 2003 by Jan and Claus. The cooperation and creativity turned out to give a better result than expected: Synergy. The desire to express the music led to the desire to play live. In May 2005 Kim was hired as a live keyboard player and, as it turned out, the chemistry was so good that Kim subsequently became a full time member. The music and live shows have given so much positive feedback that deZeption has been motivated to strive even more. The idea is always to create something durable - music that can affect people. The first milestone was reached with the release of the debut album 'Human Eyes' in 2008. To obtain as much artistic freedom as possible, the band chose to release the album on their own label deZeptivemusic. In March 2010 Kim chose to leave deZeption. Shortly after, Morten joined as keyboard player. The band is now working on an exciting follow-up to 'Human Eyes'. The working title is 'Mature' and expresses the music's maturation process since the debut album. On stage the visual concept is simple, strong and unique. deZeption's music and image appeal to the broad audience and the band enjoy having fans from all around the globe - represented by both younger and older generations from genres such as pop, rock, dance etc.
An EP is scheduled for release in mid 2010 as an appetizer for the forthcoming album 'Mature'.... view the world through Human Eyes ...

THE GLIMMER ROOM - I REMAIN (PART 1)
http://www.theglimmerroom.co.uk/
http://www.a-framemedia.co.uk/artists.html
i remain

The 4th studio album from The Glimmer Room "I Remain" is now available. Recorded through the summer and autumn of 2009 this is a return to a more sparse sounding album like I first explored with Grey Mirrors. This time using multiple loop based systems similar in a way Eno's system based music to generate the basic track before the more melodic elements where produced. This is roughly how I produced the track Carbon Statues. It is available here and from all the usual places now though iTunes and Amazon might take a few more weeks. "I Remain" is an album presented as one continous piece of music but split into 9 discrete movements. The CD comes with a DVD single featuring the original "I Remain" track not on the album.

ABOUT - THE GLIMMER ROOM - Andy Condon lives in a self imposed exile in the wilds of north Essex, and has worked as The Glimmer Room since the turn of the century. After many years building a career predominantly in the live music scene, Andy grew tired of all the travelling and general upheaval that life in a busy band entails, and thereafter retreated into the safety of the studio, where he worked as part of a short-lived experimental dance collective called Neesh. After weeks of programming, the first Neesh album was finalised in a marathon 3 day studio session that was more like a 3 day party, with folks dropping in, hanging out and maybe even contributing to the recording, and the 5 track EP, called simply Neesh, was eventually released through the sadly now defunct Landscape Recordings label. All this talk of studio parties and collectives is a mile away from The Glimmer Room, but for one thing so, please, bare with me. In amongst all the 909-rhythms and thumping 303-basslines was a small track called Still Waters, which quickly became something of a turning-point for Andy - a laid-back, down-tempo piece, that hung on a processed Enya sample, a slowed down break-beat, all held together by a young rapper who left shortly afterwards, and ended up in the US working with De la Sole. This track also turned out to be the end of Neesh and the start of The Glimmer Room because Andy had finally found his true path, in a mode of music he wanted to explore more deeply. That was early 1997 and, five years later, the first Glimmer Room album, Tomorrows Tuesday, was released in early 2002 on the then Sheffield electronic music label Neu Harmony. The thirteen tracks that make up Tomorrow's Tuesday evolved from chopped-up breaks and beats, via lush synthesiser melodies, which characterise Andy's trademark atmospheric, layered soundscapes and drew favourable comparisons with acts as diverse as Moby, Enigma and Mike Oldfield's Songs of Distant Earth. Grey Mirrors followed in 2004. Released on Andy's own A-frame Media label, Grey Mirrors began as an experiment after Andy had read about how the KLF had recorded their classic Chill Out album in just one weekend. Andy set himself the goal of doing just the same, and the result was a remarkable album consisting of just one 42 minute piece that quickly became an ambient classic. In composing Grey Mirrors, Andy used the view from his window as inspiration, taking in as many influences as possible, and the resulting album is a musical exploration of a time and place that has a feeling highly reminiscent of an old English black and white film. Grey Mirrors was released to overwhelming critical acclaim, receiving world-wide radio play and establishing a genuine personal connection with people from all corners of the globe. The release of this album also saw Andy's return to the stage, with an appearances at the Alpha Centuri electronic music festival in Holland, and later, at a special appearence in the Awakenings series of concerts in the UK. Moving on from Grey Mirrors, 2007 saw the release of the limited edition album, Now We Are Six, also on the A-Frame label. NWAS is a collection of tracks recording first 6 years of The Glimmer Room's life and which featured on various magazine cover disks and compilations but were otherwise unavailable. This was Andy's first album to be available digitally through i-Tunes and Amazon, and was soon followed by Grey Mirrors as Andy pushed forward with this new medium. 2007 also saw the release of a Glimmer Room re-mix of Komputer's Like A Bird, on the world-famous label, Mute Records. Following more than two and a half years of hard work, Andy's third studio album Home Without The Journey was released in late 2008, once again on A-frame Media. Home Without The Journey illustrates a more experimental side to Andy's work, and is possibly his most introspective work to date. What else? Well, future adventures include possible collaborations with ex-Ultravox and Magazine guitarist Robin Simon and his brother Paul, and will begin just as soon as work schedules permit.

DAYBEHAVIOR - CITY LIGHTS
http://www.daybehavior.com/
http://www.myspace.com/daybehavior
It all started with the two friends Carl and Tommy who had both been making music in various constellations since the early eighties. In 1988 they met and found out they shared similar musical references, particularly synthesizer-pop music from the early eighties. In the summer of '93 they got together and seriously started to consider the possibilities of making music together. They decided in what way they wanted to work and a music project slowly took form at their own Graplur Studios. In the winter of '93 they started the search for a vocalist, and a little more than one year later, after having tried out more than 40 different vocalists, Paulinda entered the studio and the last piece of the Daybehavior puzzle fell into place. Half Italian, half Swedish Paulinda was able to add even more beauty to the Daybehavior sound, turning their music into something really special with her melodic voice, and her lyrics which she mainly writes in English, but sometimes in Italian. The first album was released by the indie-label North of no south (NONS) and was distributed and released in Europe, Australia and Japan. Daybehavior had a lot of airplay and got stunningly good rewiews in both brittish press like NME and Melody Maker but also in big music magazines around the world. Unfortunately NONS went bankrupted in ..97, just weeks before the planned release of their second album. The album was therefore delayed with several years and released at the American label A different drum 2003. Tommy had at that time emigrated to Thailand. After a few years of silence Daybehavior is finally back with new energy and a new album where they have defined their well-known minimalistic electro-syntpop sound. This will be their best album ever...so far

tenek - BLINDED BY YOU
http://tenek.info/
http://www.myspace.com/tenekuk
http://www.toffeetonesrecords.com/shop.htm

Released on Monday 5th July on CD & mp3, Blinded By You has been road-tested on live audiences over the past few months and has already established itself as one of their most infectious and anthemic crowd pleasers to-date. It has all the elements that you would expect from them. A solid electro groove with nods to the past, present and future and a hook that is simply relentless. Perfectly crafted synth pop which the fans adore, with mass appeal and cross-over potential. For this release, the song has been reworked in both single and extended formats by Shaun 'Dubby' Brooks and the single also contains an exclusive b-side Synchronise, (a dead cert to become a live favourite) which in the tradition of all good b-sides shows the band having fun and letting their hair down. The first offering for 2010 and a precursor to the much anticipated new album"On The Wire", (on general release in September) Blinded By You is screaming vitality and is an essential purchase for fans and new converts alike.

tenek are Geoff Pinckney and Peter Steer. tenek are all about hard grinding electro grooves, a power house of classic British synthesiser pop and stabs of driving guitar. They craft these sounds with insanely infectious song writing and strong confident vocals to produce a unique crossover which is credible and satisfying to both the cult electro scene and yet retaining a mass market appeal through the immediacy of their melodies and hooks. Dark and introspective yet rewardingly uplifting and anthemic, this music is for the masses and for the underground and this is why tenek are vital! tenek have a long musical history behind them and wear their influences proudly as medals of honour. Geoff and Pete are accomplished musicians at the top of their game who have forged their own unique sound which is gloriously electronic, contagious and most importantly leaves the listener feeling that they are part of something. tenek take you with them in their acknowledgment of the past, present and future! tenek include the classic pioneers such as Kraftwerk, John Foxx, Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, The Human League and Cabaret Voltaire as starting points with current influences ranging from Timo Mass, NIN, Crystal Method, Hybrid, Goldfrapp, Air, Les Rhythmes Digitales...  live tenek deliver intense and involving live performances adding limitless drive and energy to their music. They have been welcomed throughout the UK, Europe and Russia and have established a considerable following in these territories. They are seasoned performers and have toured with artists such as Mesh, John Foxx, Gary Numan, The Human League, De/Vision, A Flock Of Seagulls, Iris and Assemblage 23...

DUAL DENSITY - UNDRESS

REVIEW OF THE NEW DUAL DENSITY ALBUM - SOUL ECSTASY
Dual Density is the creation of Tess Fries, Jonas Asp and Pontus Olsson, created in spring of 2008. During 2008 and 2009 Dual Density played a couple of live shows and received an overwhelming response. The peak was when they were asked to play with Swedish synthpop veterans S.P.O.C.K, Mobile Homes and Elegant Machinery at the legendary KB in Malmö. “Soul Ecstasy” is the debut album released this June on Conzoom Records. The opener “Undress” together with the following “Soul Ecstasy” is two amazing tracks and it really make you wanna move. A great melodic structure and the chorus itches into your brain. The female vocals of Tess Fries is hypnotic and matches perfect with the music. “Mistress Sleepqueen” is another great electropop track while “Ego Girl” drops the tempo and draws more attention to the mainstream music. The danceable music continues with “Fly The Galaxy” and “No Regret” which is another two great electropop tracks with amazing background synthesizers. The next track “Where Are You Hiding” starts with a sound that reminds me of the good old C64 game Giana Sisters before the beating enters together with the voice of Tess. Another pumping dancefloor filler. Even though the album doesn’t falls into the category of pure synthpop/electropop, it is really great. Alot of poppy and catchy melodies you wanna move to, just the thing that make me wanna like it and even if it draws alot of flashbacks to the 90′s disco music I think it’s great. The music still works and is not outdated in anyway and with many tracks made for the dancefloors the music will definately make alot of bodies to move. With a very fresh sound, influenced by the 80′s itali disco and the 90′s eurotechno together with the modern synthpop, Dual Density delivers a strong debut album. Itali Disco 2.0! Be sure not to miss Dual Density!

Review is from http://www.blackvector.se/dual-density-soul-ecstasy-cd-conzoom/ 9/10.

CARVED SOULS - WAVEFORM (Extended Mix)
http://www.carvedsouls.com/
http://www.myspace.com/carvedsouls
http://www.conzoomrecords.de/
Carved Souls was originally an orchestral instrumental side project started in 2001. Band members: Suede-guitar/singer, Legion-Guitar/Bass, Gotham-Keys/Bass and Logan-Drumer started with a band named DarkState that adapted a Cure, Joy Division, Peter Murphy like sound. DarkState later defused & Suede, Legion and Gotham started to work on music for Carved Souls. Influenced by synth-pop/darkwave and other various styles the trio worked on composing scores for commercials and short films. While working and creating together they decided to explore other medias by developing new sounds and techniques. A unique sound was then forged by adding the mixture of the trio's simplistic styles. This combination made the elements which created the sound of Carved Souls. Since that time Carved Souls has emerged and submerged repeatedly avoiding the spotlight and remaining as an underground source. In that time lapse the group's work has included three self released albums. Reconstructed (A very limited release of the bands early work), followed by Machinery incorporating many experimental sounds and most recent Darken Lights. After Darken Lights the band went idle again. Now the trio have emerged once again and are now back in the studio. Look out for the forth coming album (Waveform) in 2010.

I HAVE A BOX - LOST
http://www.myspace.com/ihaveabox
"I have a box" is the work of Chris Ritchie, formerly recording and releasing as sickmoth, and part of the collaborative projects Dysphere, Project Emotronic, Aural Lab, The Electrip, Futopia, and Lemon Shadft. i have a box refers to the musical environment: a box of tricks, of musical experimentation, where no rules exist, and where the music hopefully speaks for itself. i have a box is mostly played live and sequenced, edited and mixed only where necessary - attempting to capture the organic feel of live performance and adding layer upon layer of complementary rhythms and melodies. The first recording, Bunnies, will be released soon on new label Bubblectro. The label will be looking for artists with a distinct sound - mainstream need not apply. Thanks for listening.

JACQUES C - FAME'S WAY (Midnite Mix)

Jacques C started making electronical music in 2005, after having played in a number of indie/shoegaze, rock and synth bands. He released his debut single Stream On the same year. His main influences are french house and british 80s indie, and his own music sounds like a blend of Daft Punk and New Order (according to a recent Swedish review). Jacques has so far made a number of live sets in Sweden, Ukraina and Lille, France. In 2008 he set up his own label, Funk Noir, and have since released two albums – Noir and Noir Pt. 2 – as well as other artists like Tomas Andersson (Bpitch Control), Rayko (Rare Wiri), french space disco artist Clarence and wicked trash techno duo Vaerelsen consisting of Tomas Andersson and Jacques C.

DESTINATION - HIDE AND SEEK (Lost Mix)
http://www.ourdestination.co.uk
http://www.myspace.com/thisisourdestination
Musician Glynn Jaine and vocalist Bridget Gray met in May 2008. Their first collaboration, a cover of one of their favourite songs, was so well received they were inspired to take the project farther and a prolific songwriting partnership was fast established. Destination write and produce their music from the comfort of their respective homes. Glynn and Bridget do much of their creative writing online, meeting up for final production and of course for live appearances. With their irresistible, hook-laden synth melodies and soft dreamy vocals, the songs quickly came to the attention of Lexer Music, the official online merchandising partner to the Erasure Information Service. Thus followed the exclusive online distribution of their self-produced debut album 'Alternate Realities' in April 2009. Destination are currently working on their follow up album, due for release in summer 2010.
